TURBODRY®
Vacuum vertical pan dryers - Flat Base

Vacuum vertical pan dryer, designed at the  beginning of the 1980’s to process
a wide range of products including the so-called “difficult” and heat sensitive
.

The machines meet the following requirements:
-  Very easy cleaning and inspection
-  Highly efficient and versatile, also for “difficult” products
-  Short drying times
-  No cross-contamination
-  Minimal product hold-up after discharging
-  Simple operation and easy validation
-  Very efficient and even mixing of the entire product mass
-  No product adherence to the vessel wall and base, no dead zones
-  Maximum possible heat exchange rate
-  Vacuum to 1 mbar
-  Agitator support on the dished top head, without any seals in the product area
-  Agitator with vertical movement allows agitation of the total product volume and thus critical phases during the drying process can be avoided

The machines are designed and built per cGMP and FDA guidelines.

A quality performance related machine according to cGMP and FDA rules.

The important features of the TURBODRY
® are:

Cylindrical, vertical vacuum vessel with dished top head and flat base
The base of the dryers is either welded to the cylindrical section of the vessel or connected with flanges. The flanges are locked using traditional clamps or a bayonet system
All surfaces in contact with the product such as the vessel, flat base, dished top head, agitator and vapour filter are heated, providing very efficient heat exchange
Optional supplemental heating with microwaves (click here)
The cylindrical vessel, the flat base and the agitator are machined to assure the smallest possible tolerances between agitator and vessel wall and flat bottom respectively.
Smallest possible tolerances also permit good heat exchange and prevent product adherence to the vessel wall and flat bottom.
All internal surfaces are mirror polished to improve the flow behaviour of powdery products, the prevention of microdeposits as well as to facilitate cleaning
The agitator is installed on the top.
   -  Adjustable speed using frequency converters with electric drives or control valves with
      hydraulic drives
   -  Four movement possibilities, clockwise and counterclockwise rotation as well as raising
and lowering. Simultaneous rotational and vertical motions result in the following
      advantages
       ·  The combination of these agitator movements permits very efficient and even mixing of
the entire product mass, also preventing local overheating and the formation of lumps.
       ·  Agitator blockages are prevented by controlling the lowering movement of the agitator.
       ·  Sensitive products can be protected by reducing the shear forces acting on the
          product to an absolute minimum.
       ·
Highly viscous products can be dried faster by lifting the product lump formed in the
         machine.

   -  Agitator with two or three arms. The arms are designed with a unique profile for good mixing
of the product, to discharge the dried product and for very efficient heat exchange.
   -  Sealing of the agitator shaft with double mechanical seal and bellows
   -  The version for sterile applications has welded shaft connections to provide for ease of
      cleaning
   -  Linear stroke measurement system for vertical position indication of the agitator
Mechanical seal and metal bellows: the double mechanical seal is installed on the dished top head, above the area wetted by the product and is well accessible for cleaning and maintenance purposes. Dry or wet running mechanical seals may be installed. The agitator shaft is sealed by a metal bellows over its full length
Advantages of mechanical seal and metal bellows:
   -  Better final vacuum
   -  No hazardous leakage or emissions
   -  No product contamination
   -  Possibility of sterile operation
   -  Failure detection system for mechanical seal
   -  Failure detection system for bellows
Solids discharge valve for wet or dry product.
Sealing metal to metal or conventional,
activation by hydraulic cylinder, electric or
    hydraulic motor.
Valve seat cleaning by blow-off with nitrogen.
CIP and / or steam sterilization available
Vapour filter, equipped with automatic filter back-cleaning system
   Sample valve
Machine controls manual, or with PLC, PC and DCS
Hydraulic pre-piping and electric pre-wiring of machine and hydraulic unit
Hydraulic unit for the agitator and for auxiliary functions such as raising and lowering of base, activation of the bayonet system etc.
Design and manufacturing to the requirements of international organizations such as ASME, TÜV, etc.
Environmentally sound and safe to operate
